Baby Swimming Precautions

by My Store Admin 23 Jul 2025

To ensure a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for babies, please follow these important safety guidelines and best practices:

1. Age-Appropriate Pool Selection

  • Small pool: Suitable for babies 0–12 months old.

  • Large pool: Suitable for children 1–6 years old.

2. Adult Supervision Is Essential

A dedicated caregiver must be present at all times during swimming.
The caregiver should always remain within arm’s reach of the baby.

3. Proper Swim Ring Placement

Ensure the baby float is securely positioned under the baby’s chin (not neck) to maintain comfort and safety.

4. Timing Matters

Swimming should be scheduled:

  • At least 40 minutes before feeding, or

  • 1 hour after feeding.
Recommended swim duration: 10–30 minutes per session.

5. Optimal Water & Room Temperature

  • Summer:

    • Room temperature: 22°C–24°C (71.6°F–75.2°F)

    • Water temperature: 36°C–38°C (96.8°F–100.4°F)

  • Winter:

    • Room temperature: 26°C–28°C (78.8°F–82.4°F)

    • Water temperature: 37°C–39°C (98.6°F–102.2°F)

6. Hygiene Standards Before Entry

  • One baby per float, per pool session.

  • Pools must use a protective film or membrane for hygiene.

  • Follow "one baby, one pool, one float" rule.

7. Prevent Water Inhalation

Take precautions to avoid water entering the baby’s mouth, nose, or ears. Never leave the baby unattended.

8. Recognize Signs of Discomfort

If your baby starts splashing nervously or seems unsettled, it may be a sign of fear.
Parents or staff should gently hold the baby’s hands to offer reassurance.

9. After-Swim Care

Allow your baby to rest for 10–15 minutes after swimming.
Then offer water or a light snack (such as cheese) to relieve hunger and help the baby recover.

10. Limit Swimming Frequency

Babies should not swim more than twice per day.

11. No Swimming When Unwell

Babies who are sick, injured, or showing signs of discomfort should not swim.

By following these safety precautions, you can help your baby enjoy a fun, healthy, and safe water experience every time.

If you have further questions, please contact the Mambobaby support team or consult your local baby swim center.
