In Winter, How Long Is A Suitable Bath Time For My Child?
PART1-bathing every day may be over-cleaning
Have you ever experienced this: In winter, shortly after taking a shower, some skin on the child's body begins to turn red, and the child will keep scratching, and white dander will appear in the scratched area.
In fact, these are signs that your child's skin is too dry! The culprit of dry skin is probably excessive cleansing.
How clean is the bath every day, why is it bad? In fact, the layer of "mud" on the skin is a natural barrier, which can reduce the external irritation to our skin and reduce the loss of skin moisture to a certain extent.
So don't regard the skin dirt as the enemy, the dirt is also diligent in helping us moisturize.
PART2-How often is it appropriate to take a bath?
If skin dirt can protect the skin, can it be a long time without taking a bath? Of course this is not possible! Not to mention that if you don't take a bath for a long time, you will have a peculiar smell on your body, and it will easily breed bacteria and cause various diseases.
So, in winter, how often is it appropriate to take a bath? This has something to do with age. The older the skin, the less sebum secreted by the skin, so the number of baths per week is different for each age group.
Newborn (within 28 days)
The skin thickness of newborns is almost half that of adults, and the secretion of sebum is relatively strong. If you don’t take a bath for a long time, excessive oil accumulates on the surface of the skin and your baby is prone to skin diseases. Therefore, it is best for parents to give their newborn a bath once a day or every other day.
Infants (0-3 years old)
Once every other day or twice a week.
Children (over 3 years old)
It is roughly similar to adults, but it also depends on the child's exercise. Generally, it is most scientific to wash once every 2 to 3 days.
PART3-take a bath in winter, pay attention to these
①The bath time should not be too long
Taking a bath for too long can easily cause chest tightness, nausea, and shortness of breath. This is because the winter bathing habit is to close the doors and windows, and the bathroom is full of water vapor. Taking longer to wash will cause hypoxia in the brain. The child's brain is not fully developed, and it is more likely to cause discomfort if the bath time is too long.
Under normal circumstances, the child's bath time should not exceed 15 minutes, preferably within 10 minutes.
②Do not close doors and windows
Although everyone’s fear of the cold is understandable, it is easy to be poisoned by carbon monoxide when all doors and windows are locked when using a gas water heater to take a bath. Such tragedies happen every year and everyone must try to avoid them.
Slightly opening the doors and windows when taking a bath can not only avoid carbon monoxide poisoning, but may also speed up your bath.
③Don’t blindly pursue warmth
Many people, like to put a heater next to them when taking a bath, so that the bath will be much warmer, but they don’t realize that this is a huge safety hazard!
④ Moisturize
After taking a bath, let the child dry the water on the body, one is to avoid catching cold, and the other is to avoid dry skin caused by water evaporation.
Taking a bath will cause the body to lose moisture quickly, and sometimes children feel dizzy and uncomfortable, which is a sign of dehydration. So drink plenty of water before and after bathing
Finally, don't forget to apply body milk. Before applying it, you can warm the body milk with your palm to make the skin absorb faster and better.
